Bar – Snug, Warm & Welcoming

The Bar is snug, warm and welcoming with a large inglenook fireplace, high original oak rafters and very low beams.

The key stones supporting the original columns are remnants of the granite used for the construction of the 12th century St Mary and the Virgin Church in Sutterton. One can observe the oak pegs tying the roof structure, which with the key stones testify to the age of the thatch built circa 1180AD by Sir Robert Decrecy the 1st Normal Lord of Lincolnshire.

Quiz nights (£1 to play) and Play Your Cards Right (£1 to play) are held fortnightly on a Monday night with a complimentary hot supper for all players. All contributions returned in prizes.

Children are welcome but should be seated away from the bar servery.

The bar at the Thatched Cottage is now a non smoking area & serves:

Patio

The Patio at The Thatched Cottage is a delightful haven for outdoor dining & drinking.

The Patio overlooks the 7 acre country park to the West and is embraced by the Cottage to the East and wind breaking hedgerows to the North & South.

Shrubs, terraces and a featured Eucalyptus tree provide a “garden” atmosphere where patrons can enjoy outdoor chess, draughts a snack, meal or drink with full table service.

The Patio can easily be accessed from the restaurant or “Victorian garden room” to provide an ideal place for you to meet before a meal, congregate afterwards or to enjoy the hawks hunting in the park or the resident Doves.

Pets on leads are allowed on the patio and kennels (by prior arrangement) are available for your pet to stay for an hour or two by prior arrangement, whilst you relax and enjoy our hospitality.
